Review: Sliquid Lube Comparison… The Good, The Bad, and The Slippery

I’m sure I’ve made it known (through my many videos and written reviews) that System Jo has been my all time fave brand of lube for quite a while now. Not only do the products maintain their consistency, becoming neither sticky nor tacky during use, but they’re also affordable, latex safe, and have a low consistency of glycerin so I never have to worry about a possible yeast infection when I’m done.

After more than 5 years of being a devoted and loyal System Jo supporter I figured it was time I gave another brand a chance. To my pleasure and surprise I was sent 5 different bottles of the highly recommended Sliquid so I could create a sliquid lube comparison.

The products I was sent included Sliquid Sea, Sliquid Swirl in Cherry/Vanilla flavor, Sliquid Silk a silicone and water based hybrid mixture, Sliquid Silver a fantastic silicone lube, and Sliquid H2O, a basic water based formula.

Rather than doing a full blown review on each of the products I’m going to write a series of mini-reviews that highlight the fantastic (and possibly not so fantastic) qualities of each of these products.

The Basics

Before I go into the sliquid comparison I just want to inform you of all the basic similarities, as they’d be rather repetitive if I continually stated them in each mini review;

  •  All of the products are DEA (Diethanolamine), gluten, glycerine, glycerol, paraben, PEG (polyethylene glycol), propylene glycol, sorbitol and sulphate free, so you don’t really have to worry about harsh chemicals or bodily reactions (though I still suggest a patch test just to make sure you’re not allergic).
  • They’re 100% vegan friendly, latex safe, hypoallergenic, non-toxic and the Sea, H2O, Swirl versions state that they are non staining.
  • The products are all 4.2 oz in size
  • Each of the water based lubes (SEA, H2O, Swirl, Silk) can be reactivated by adding a little bit of water (or spit). Silver can be reactivated by reapplying since it’s silicone.
  • They’re all professionally, respectfully and beautifully packaged, with nothing on them that’s rude, possibly embarrassing or offensive. They even went the extra little mile and had “please recycle this bottle” included on the labels, a very nice touch.
  • All of the water based lubes (SEA, H2O, Swirl) can be used with any kind of intimate accessory. The two lubes that contain silicone (Silk and Silver) I’d only suggest for use with hard plastic, metalglass or wood products as they’d likely ruin any silicone product.

Sliquid Lube Comparison

Sliquid H20 – Water Based Lube

Screen Shot 2016-05-06 at 2.30.10 PMSliquid H2O is a translucent, scentless, tasteless, water based lube with a nice beginning consistency that’s rather thick, slippery and silky. With a slight amount of rubbing/friction it becomes a tad gummy and takes on a  pasty white color that quickly sinks into the skin/oxidizes.

Fortunately it does a rather good job of mimicking the natural lubrication the female body produces (well, mine at least) and will maintain that consistency so long as the female using it remains “wet”. It didn’t leave any visible residue on me or my partner and was exceptionally easy to clean up.

On the down side, if you happen to no longer be aroused, or have a hard time self lubricating, it might not last very long leading you to reapply often and go through the bottle rather quickly. Considering the bottle is only $12.99 (versus some higher priced, yet lower quality lubes) I think it’s a good value for the money.

Final Verdict: I easily give this lube 4 out of 5 stars with a deduction due to the fact that it didn’t last as long as I was hoping.

Ingredients: Purified water, Plant Cellulose (from cotton), Cyamopsis (Guar conditioners), Potassium Sorbate and Citric Acid.

Sliquid Swirl – Cherry/Vanilla Flavored Lube

Sliquid Lube Comparison: Cherry VanillaNext up is Sliquid Swirl in a surprisingly tasty Cherry Vanilla flavor.  I’ll be honest, when I first got the translucent lube I expected it to taste highly artificial, sickeningly sweet, syrupy and leave a lingering burn on my tongue like most lower end flavored lubes.

Instead it tasted like a delicious day old cherry cupcake with yummy vanilla frosting, when I say ‘day old’ I don’t mean stale, I mean muted. Overall the flavor was light, fruity but sweet, slightly juicy, with a subtle hint of mouthwatering vanilla. Thankfully it had no after taste, didn’t burn, sting, or make me feel nauseous, and to top it off left a lovely lingering scent anywhere I put it on my partner.

The consistency was very much like a gel lubricant, there was some thickness but it wasn’t gluey or tacky, and it took slightly longer to absorb or become sticky then the basic H2O version.

Although I’d highly suggest it for oral play, I wouldn’t really suggest it for intercourse as we had to  reapply quite a few times (eventually adding some System Jo H2O to the mix).

Final Verdict: Without a doubt I’d give it 5 out of 5 stars for use during oral sex and 3.5  for use during intercourse, though I wouldn’t suggest it for any kind of anal play as you’d likely have to stop and reapply rather often (which can spoil the mood).

Ingredients: Purified water, Plant Cellulose (from cotton), Cyamopsis (Guar conditioners), Cherry and Vanilla flavoring, Aspartame, Potassium Sorbate and Citric Acid.

Sliquid Silk – H2O/Silicone Hybrid Lube

Sliquid SilkAfter our previous experiences with the water based products we thought we’d try something different with their hybrid mix of silicone and H2O, Sliquid Silk.

Unlike the other versions this lube was a pasty white color (think Elmers School Glue) with a slightly chemical scent (not too horrible) and an acidic, sour and pungent taste  that was exceptionally horrible.

It went on smooth, mixing with my bodies natural fluids rather well, and maintained its consistency for a slightly longer period than the others. Having said that, we found that it needed to be reapplied more when used with our two favorite brands of condoms (Trojan Naked Sensations, Lifestyles Ultra Lubricated). We also found that it thinned out and felt slightly watery (less like a silicone lube) when reactivated with a tiny amount of water (which for some reason didn’t happen when reactivating the other two lubes).

Like the others there was no residue left on the skin and clean up was a breeze; on one occasion we used body safe moist towelettes and the other, simple soap and water.

Final Verdict: I’m still on the fence with this lube; on the one hand I liked the feeling, enjoyed that it didn’t need to be reapplied/reactivated as often as the previous lubes and felt it mimicked my bodies natural lubrication rather well. On the flip side it tasted horrible, made orally pleasing each other rather gross and didn’t work well with our fave condoms. Overall I’d give it 3.75 out of 5 stars.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Plant Cellulose (from cotton), Isopropyl Palmitate, Polysorbate 20, Dimethicone, Emollient Ester, Potassium Sorbate.

Sliquid Silver – Silicone Lube

Sliquid Lube Comparison: Sliquid SilverIf there is one type of lube I’m a big fan of it’s a really great silicone. Not only does it maintain its consistency, getting neither sticky nor tacky with use, but it’s also exceptionally slippery, fantastic for use during shower or bath play (since it’s waterproof), goes an exceptionally long way for the little that’s used (which saves you money in the long run) and is pretty amazing  for use during anal play/penetration (since you don’t have to keep stopping and reapplying).

Fortunately Sliquid Silver is no exception to the rule; it glided on smooth, made my skin feel velvety and super slippery, had no scent or taste, interacted nicely with my body’s natural lubrication and helped to make the condoms we were using feel like nothing at all.

The only down side was it didn’t last as long as I’m used to when in the shower as I had to reapply twice (I guess System Jo has me spoiled). Having said that, it was still pretty awesome and did everything I hoped it would. On the plus side, it washed off rather easily and didn’t require a heavy or concentrated soap to do so. (my one and only complaint when using silicone lube is that cleaning it off the skin can be a pain in the ass).

Final Verdict: Without question I’ll give this silicone a 5 out of 5 stars for affordability, ease of use, feeling and overall amazingness!

Ingredients: Dimethicone, Dimentheconol, Cyclopentasiloxane.

Sliquid Sea – H2O/Seaweed Infused Lube

Sliquid Lube Comparison: Sliquid SeaLast, but definitely not least, was Sliquid Sea – a fantastic lube that was slippery, smelled a little salty and soapy, had no taste, was slightly thicker than the others, mimicked my own natural lubrication very well and is infused with the following seaweed extracts: Carrageenan, Wakame and Nori.

According to the Sliquid website:  “Together, these natural extracts of the sea blend with our Naturals H2O lubricant, to provide a slippery, sensual lubricant with the natural healing properties of the sea.” (to read more click this link)

While I can’t speak for the products health benefits (I haven’t used it often enough, or on a regular basis for that), I can say that it’s a pretty damn fantastic lubricant no matter what you’re using it for. Unfortunately it didn’t last very long in the shower and needed to be reapplied twice. On the upside it left no residue on me or my partner and was very easy to wash off.

Final Verdict: 4.5 out of 5 stars with a half point deduction for the salty and somewhat soapy smell.

Overall Final Verdict

When it came to comparing System Jo to Sliquid I had a really hard time deciding which was better, especially considering they have very different ingredients. Having said that, Sliquid comes in second with a photo finish.

Whether you’re new to the idea of lubes, use them on a regular basis, have a favorite brand that you’re getting tired of or are simply looking to try something new,  I highly suggest the Sliquid brand of lubes. Not only do they work exceptionally well, but they’re beautifully and respectfully packaged, definitely affordable ($11.99 – $17.59) and free of all the harsh chemicals/fillers you’d find in a lesser brand.

System Jo Chocolate Delight Lube Review

System Jo Chocolate Delight Lube ReviewBefore I get into this System Jo Chocolate Delight lube review I just want to say how big a fan I am of System Jo products; they’re easy to use, don’t get sticky or tacky, maintain their consistency, don’t stain, have no after taste, are latex safe (great for use with condoms or dental dams) the flavors taste great, and best of all they are very affordable.

More than that, they’re one of the only flavored lubes containing glycerin (it’s one of the last ingredients) I’ve used without worrying about a yeast infection after. In fact, anything else I’ve tried has sent me to my local pharmacy in need of a box of Canesten. After lots of trial and error I’ve learned to stick with what I know. Tmi? Meh, whatever. Yeast infections happen.

Just an FYI, the only other flavored lubes I’ve been able to use without a negative reaction are Sliquid “Swirl” and Swede “Fruity Love”.

This Lube Is Like A Box Of Chocolates!

A little while ago I wrote a review of the fantastic new fruity flavors System Jo sent my way. Included in that mix was their new Chocolate Delight flavor, one I had omitted as I felt it deserved a review of its own.

Like all of the other lubes System Jo makes the packaging is respectful, professional, mature and discreet. There’s nothing on it that’s too embarrassing and with 4 languages for directions it’s something almost anyone could use and not be confused by. The bottle itself is a sturdy plastic that’s slightly transparent, filled to the brim with fabulously flavored lube (some companies, not all) use colored bottles so you can’t see that it’s only 3/4 full.

As for the actual lube; its water based, clear, glides on smooth, has a slippery consistency and feels like silicone. It doesn’t get sticky or tacky, maintains its consistency, doesn’t stain, can be reactivated with water (if you find it’s not as slippery after a while), is latex compatible, has no after taste or artificial sweeteners, and feels amazing.

System Jo Chocolate Flavored Lube ReviewIt’s a Delight!

If there is one dessert I love more than any other, it’s chocolate.  I don’t think there is a day that goes by that I don’t have something chocolate. Fortunately for me System Jo’s Chocolate Delight lube tastes very, very much like chocolate. While there is a very small hint of something foreign (it is a lube after all) it’s still very sweet, slightly rich, surprisingly creamy, and mouth wateringly good.

Need something more specific?  Think of the coldest day of winter, one that you spent outside stuck in a snow storm. Your hands are numb, your feet are soggy and wet, and your body has chills. Now imagine coming home, kicking off the shoes, wrapping up in a cozy blanket, and snuggling in with a nice hot chocolate topped with marshmallows. Your first sip is frothy, sweet, creamy, rich, luxurious, and delicios. That’s what I think of when I close my eyes and taste it; warm chocolaty goodness.

At the suggestion of a friend I’ve put it in coffee (a few drops), poured it on vanilla ice cream (about a teaspoon full), mixed it with plain yogurt (about a teaspoon), and added it to a chocolate martini.  Every way I tried it was fantastic! I probably should’t be eating it like candy, but I curiosity often gets the best of me.

The Bad

When it came to things I didn’t like about the product there wasn’t any. It might have been nice to have a pump top lid, or not had the tiniest taste of “lube”, but both of those issues are so minor it’s really not even worth making an issue of.

Final Verdict

If you’ve tried other chocolate flavored lubes and been disappointed, or never tried them but would love to, I highly suggest getting yourself a bottle of the new System Jo Chocolate Delight for you and your lover to enjoy!

Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Review: System Jo Fruity Flavored Lubes

About a year ago I did a review of some of my fave System Jo products which included water based lubes, silicone lubes, a clitoral stimulation gel and finally yummy flavored lubes.

Thanks to the folks at System Jo, I’m back with a review of their newest flavored fruity lubes and I gotta admit, I love them!

Just like all of the water based lubes System Jo makes, these fun and fruity flavors are all latex safe, non staining, never get sticky or tacky, maintain their consistency, have a great taste with no after taste, contain no artificial sweeteners, and contain a very small amount of vegetable derived glycerin.

Also like all of the other products in the System Jo line, the packaging is discreet, professional and respectful while still maintaining a fun and flirty feel. To be honest, the packaging to me looks more like something you’d mix in a drink or put on desert, than something you’d use for sexual encounters.

The products I was sent included Peachy Lips, Banana Lick, Juicy Pineapple, and Sweet Pomegranate.

System Jo Fruity Flavored Lube Review

Peachy Lips Water Based Lube (pictured left): I’ll be honest, I’ve tasted better, but I’ve also tasted much, much worse. The scent is light and sweet, almost like vanilla and something else, something fruity that you can’t quite put your finger on.

The flavor is subtle and slightly tangy while also being wonderfully candied. Having said that, it’s only a tad like peach. It’s not thick or goopy, has no after taste and doesn’t taste like medicine (something I’m always fearful of when it comes to flavored lubes). The formula is clear and slippery, doing a fantastic job of maintaining it’s consistency.

Final Grade: B+

Banana Lick Water Based Lube (pictured right): From the get go System Jo’s Banana Lick was one of my faves! The first whiff filled my nose with the heavy scent of a mixture of pear/lemon/vanilla, then upon smelling it again I got hit with the yummy scent of banana popsicles.

The taste is light, slightly syrupy, wonderfully sweet, and very much like what a banana flavored candy would taste like. Like the previous flavor, this one has no aftertaste and doesn’t leave you tongue feeling coated in goo. The formula is clear and slippery, doing a fantastic job of maintaining it’s consistency.

Final Grade: A+

Sweet Pomegranate Water Based Lube (pictured left): When I first saw that System Jo came out with a Pomegranate flavored lube I was very excited to see what it tasted like. Not only was it something I hadn’t tried before, but it was also a flavor I had never even seen as a lube. Fortunately, I was not let down. The scent was light, fragrant with fruit, slightly floral, and very appealing. That said, nowhere in the scent did I pick up Pomegranate.

The taste was again light, slightly syrupy, a little tangy, very sweet, though sadly nothing really like Pomegranate, instead tasting more like a candy or those red jujubes I used to love as a kid. It wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t the pomegrante flavor I had hoped for.

Like the others the formula was clear, slippery and did a fantastic job of maintaining its consistency.

Final Grade: B

Juicy Pineapple Water Based Lube (pictured right): While there are many Pina Colada lubes featuring flavors of pineapple and coconut on the market, System Jo’s Pineapple was the first I had seen singling out the flavor. As such, it was one that I was very eager to try. The scent was very much like the others – light, sweet, slightly tangy, somewhat like citrus and very appealing.

The taste, while sweet, very much reminded me of Pineapple rings in a can, you know, the ones in that sweet, watery syrup that taste almost deliciously fake. There was no aftertaste or slimy feeling left in my mouth or throat, and virtually no acidic burn on my tongue (unlike real Pineapple). There also wasn’t the heavy taste associated with most lubes.

As for the consistency, it lived up to the high standards I’ve associated with the System Jo brand, being very slippery, maintaining its consistency and doing a wonderful job of enhancing oral sex.

Final Grade: A+

The Bad

When it comes to things I don’t like about the product, there is only one; the ingredients. While there aren’t enough chemicals in a bottle to seriously harm you, nor enough to cause any worry or concern, I would of course prefer to offer a product that is completely organic or “natural” as that is something I am growing more conscious of.  That said, I still love System Jo products and find them to be some of the best I’ve ever used. Also, when it comes to lubes quite a few of them contain the same ingredients so I can’t really give the folks at System Jo a hard time, especially when there are much, much worse lubricants on the market.

Ingredients: Propyl Paraben, Methyl Paraben, Sodium Carboxy Methyl Cellulose, Glycerin, Purified Water, Flavor.

Final Verdict

As I’ve said before, I’m a huge fan of System Jo products; they’ve  always be wonderful to use, never caused me any problems with yeast infections (or other infections), always maintained their consistency – never getting sticky, tacky or thick – been very affordable and tasted amazing! With that in mind I’m very happy to report that the new flavors they came out with not only lived up to my expectations, but also somewhat surpassed them. I’ll admit, it’ll be hard for other companies to follow in their footsteps!

For those of you that don’t really like the flavors mentioned, keep in mind that System Jo also makes another 8 flavors; Lemon Splash (tart, tangy, slightly acidic, refreshing and very tasty), Watermelon (sweet but tart, very much like watermelon Jolly Ranchers), Strawberry Kiss (sweet, light, fruity and candy like), Raspberry Sorbet (sweet and very much like raspberry), Cherry (a little heavy, very rich and cherry cough syrup like – my least favorite), Tropical Passion (tangy, sweet, a little heavy, very exotic and fairly tart), Tangerine Dream (sweet, refreshing, very yummy and very much like a orange creamsicle – my second fave!) and finally Chocolate (deliciously fragrant and fragrant of chocolate – there’s no missing this flavor which is why it’s my ultimate fave!) Yes I really have tried all of them!

Review: BabeLicious Lubes

babelicious lubricant review

tasty treats

Thanks to the folks at Babeland (one of my all time FAVE stores!!) I was sent 2 of their flavored lubes to try; Chocolate Orange and Pomegranate Vanilla. While I expected them to be amazing (since all their stuff is) I was honestly caught off guard by how great they really were!

The packaging is very discreet and playfully colorful with nothing on it to cause embarrassment should someone find it.  With the exception of the words “Flavored Gel Lubricant” written in small print, there is literally nothing on the package to hint at what it’s used for.

*It’s so discreet you could just say it’s a flavored massage gel if you’re easily embarrassed.

For those of you that are used to flavored lubricants that quickly get sticky, tacky, slimy, thick or dry out and don’t last very long and/or taste syrupy, are way too sweet (or sour), burn your tongue or have a horrible after taste, and/or seem to be the culprit when it comes to re-occurring yeast infections; well, this might be exactly what you’re looking for as the BabeLicious lubes do none of the above.

In regard to being sticky or tacky, I was very pleased to see that the gel formula held up very well both when used with a condom and when used with a vibrator; it didn’t dry out, get sticky or thick, all things I was concerned with being that it is a gel formula rather then a typical liquid (I’ve had my share of bad experiences with gel lubes in the past). While I did have to reapply it once (after a while) I loved the fact that I didn’t have to keep reapplying, as is often the case with lesser quality lubes.

babeland lube review

body safe lube for the win

When it came to the taste, (the selling point of most flavored lubes) I have to admit – it’s actually very mild and delicate, neither being too sweet nor too rich or syrupy. I`ll be honest, the taste is so delicate it`s almost something you have to try to taste.  Not that it’s a bad thing, especially considering that when it comes to most lubes, the flavor is gone in a matter of minutes and you’re left with the annoying task of reapplying.

On that note, it’s actually the way they smell that’s the big deal (in my opinion anyways).  From the moment I tore off the safety seal I was impressed; the heavenly scent of chocolate covered oranges filled my nose, reminding me of those yummy chocolate oranges that come out around Christmas time (I love them!!). The Vanilla Pomegranate smelled nothing like vanilla, nor pomegranate, but instead like a yummy candy bringing thoughts of Jolly Ranchers Watermelon candies to mind.

*Honestly, these are some of the BEST smelling lubes I’ve come across! While in most cases it’s the flavor that’s the big deal, with these it’s the way the scent lingers around, long after the flavor is gone that I enjoyed.

As for the issue of re-occurring infections that may be brought on by the lubricant you’re using, or the itchy, sore, irritated or raw feeling that sometimes comes after play time is over, with these BabeLicious Lubes, it’s something you shouldn’t have to worry about as they are Glycerin free (when the body breaks down glycerin it turns to a sugar, yeast thrives in a sugary environment), Paraben Free (Parabens are chemical preservatives that may be the cause of irritation or allergic reactions), Water based (so it’s safe for use with all sexual wellbeing products) and totally latex safe (so they’re safe for use with condoms). Yay for body safe lubes!

In regard to the consistency; they aren’t your typical water based liquid lubes, instead being a thicker gel formula which makes application rather easy, and the possibility of spilling or making a mess nothing to worry about. I’ll be honest, when it comes to lubes I’m really bad for leaving the lid open (or off) while in the heat of the moment, only to finish and find that I’ve leaked a bottle of lube all over the floor or bed. Not only is it a pain in the ass to clean up (especially silicone lubes!) but it’s a silly waste of money. That said, I loved the gel formula as it allowed me to enjoy our play time without the nagging thought of a messy lube clean up running through my mind to distract me from achieving a big “O”.

*Yes I know, it’s easy to close a lid but when you’re in the heat of the moment sometimes you forget…or toss the bottle in a fit of passion *blushes*

babeland lube review

slippery when wet

The Bad

When it came to things I didn’t like about the product there was only one; since I’m not used to flavored gel lubes, the consistency took a minute or two to get used to. That said, once it was spread out and less of a gel consistency it was actually really good.

Final Verdict

If you’re looking for a fantastic smelling, lightly flavored, totally body safe and extremely discreet tasty lube Bablelands BabeLicious lubes are a great place to start!

Not only are they glycerin and paraben free, but they’re also safe for use with condoms and your favourite sexual wellbeing products (like vibrators, dildos, anal toys etc). As a fantastic bonus they are also totally clear, so you don’t have to worry about possibly staining your clothes or sheets.

For more info or to purchase the products don’t forget to check out the women-friendly Babeland website (or store if you’re in the U.S.) where shopping for vibrators, dildos, lubricants or any of your other fave finds is affordable, discreet and fun!

Review: System Jo Lubricant

Screen Shot 2015-08-20 at 12.25.55 AMI’m back with a line of products that I am very excited to cover – System Jo.

For those of you that don’t know I’ve been a fan of System Jo Lubricant ever since they came out with their line of lubricants (if you go back to my early videos you’ll see I pushed them every chance I got).

Not only are the products body safe, low in glycerine content, pharmaceutical grade, and non staining, but they also come in a large variety of delicious flavors and varieties.

Part of why I like them is due to the fact that they don’t get sticky or tacky and maintain their consistency, staying slippery and wet without needing to be reapplied (also means you have to use less, saving you money in the long run).

As for the products they are:

  • Free of animal derived ingredients
  • Made with 100% vegetable based glycerin
  • Not tested on animals
  • Follow strict FDA guidelines
  • Are reasonably priced for the quality
  • Maintain their consistency
  • Are suited for each and every type of use
  • Are condom compatible
  • Pharmaceutical grade silicone
  • Doctor Recommended
  • Ideal for use in the shower (any of their silicone products)
