Review: Cake Delicious Kisser Lip Plumper

Ever since I was little girl I’ve had a thing for lip gloss. No matter the color, flavor or type; if it was a glossy delight, I wanted it… and still do.

It’s this love of lip treats that got me so excited to have my hands on one of the products in the Cake line by Topco, the  Cookie Dough Delicious Kisser Lip Plumper. ( big thanks to SexToy.com for sending it my way)

Now I’m sure a lot of you are reading this review and thinking “but it’s not a sex toy”…and you’re right, it’s not.

However, considering that it was designed to possibly help people feel sexier with its “lip plumping” ability, become aroused by the tingly, warm feeling on their lips, not to mention the words “delicious kisser” sprawled across the front (hinting that it might make kissing a tad more enjoyable); it’s definitely worth covering in my books.

Packaging

If there’s one thing I can say about the packaging – it’s adorable!!

Whether it’s the delicious looking cupcakes piled high with yummy icing, the word “Cake” sprawled across the front, or the flirty retro style pin up girl sitting in the middle, the packaging is pretty, alluring and something I think most ladies would love. There’s nothing on it that’s rude, crude or embarrassing – quite the opposite really, it’s something I’d expect to see in a large scale beauty supply store or a high-end retailer like Sephora.

*Unfortunately I’m pretty sure you can’t find it in any of the above (at the present date anyways), you’ll have to shop in a sexual wellness store or online to get your hands on it.

Pucker Up!

The clear gloss comes in a tube dispenser with a sponge tipped applicator. It’s not sticky or goopy, chalky, grainy, slimy or drying. Instead it’s light and slippery, allowing it to spread rather easily.

When I first tried it I expected it to absorb or wear off rather quickly, leaving my lips worse for the wear. Fortunately it lasted much longer than any of my other glosses, keeping my lips hydrated, soft and kissable for over an hour without needing to be reapplied.

As for the “cookie dough” scent, I’ll admit, they nailed it! Not only does it make my mouth water at the scent, but it smells like some of the yummiest, most delicious chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever smelled, fresh from the oven no less!! With that in mind, if you love dessert scents like Red Velvet Cupcakes, Devils Food or Angel Food, you’ll love the smell of the products in the Cake line!!

Unfortunately it didn’t taste much like cupcakes and to be honest, it didn’t taste like much at all – maybe a bit of mint after a few minutes, but that’s it (it contains Menthyl Lactate which could be why). I guess it’s a good thing considering it could taste like harsh chemicals or worse, yet doesn’t. Still, I would have liked for it to taste just a tiny bit like the scent. Win some, lose some I guess.

Kissy, Kissy!

I’ll sadly admit I’m one of those people who’s curiosity tends to get the best of her when new products with big promises come out (I’ve tried the “vibrating wand” mascara from 3 different companies and 4 different brands of “lip plumper” so far). With that in mind, except for Lip Venum by DuWop there hasn’t been one type of “lip plumper” that’s really excited me or left me a believer.

Being that above mentioned brand is so expensive ($16.00 – $21.00) I was very hopeful that the Cake gloss at only $5.46 would be a decent, affordable and worthwhile option.

Sadly I can’t say for sure if it works as a plumper since I didn’t really notice much of a difference; my lips tingled and warmed, felt soft, smooth and had the same sensation as when I’ve used the DuWop one, yet upon looking in the mirror they didn’t look as full or “plump” as I would have liked or hoped for. They did flush with a healthy hint of added color (the gloss is clear) which was nice.

I asked a friend to try it so I could stare at her lips (not as hot as it sounds) and see if there was any change; her lips slightly changed in color (looked flushed), became a little more plump and she said they tingled and felt warm. But other then that there wasn’t much of a difference.

Be A Guilty Pleasure

Just like most “sex toys” I review there are of course alternative ways the Delicious Kisser Lip Plumper could be used:

For an added little tease and tingle apply some to your lips then give your partner a b.j. – the added tingle and warming from the gloss might be something he’d really enjoy. I know my partner liked the way it felt.

To make your nipples more sensitive apply a small amount then wait and see what happens. Out of curiosity (I said it gets the best of me) I did it and was really surprised with the warming sensation. My partner said the added scent and slight taste of cookie dough was a definite benefit for him.

Finally, if you’re with someone that you know is STD/STI free, are practicing a different method of protection than one that is made of latex (condoms, female condom, dental dam), aren’t allergic to any of the ingredients and would like to try something new, you could apply a small amount to the clitoris, give it about a minute and see if you like it. Again my curiosity got the best of me and I just had to see what happened; it provided a gentle warming feeling and slight tingling which made stimulation a little more pleasurable. Just don’t use it internally and only use a tiny bit if you’re going to be trying this.

*I mentioned latex because I don’t know if the product could be considered latex safe. Better safe than sorry right.

The Bad

When it came to things I didn’t like there were two:

1.) It isn’t that great when it comes to making the lips look fuller or “plump”. That however could just be me, but I doubt it.

2.) The list of ingredients has quite a few big words and things I am in no way, shape or form familiar with. I might be wrong but I think it’s pretty clear it’s far from being anything close to chemical free.

Ingredients: Polybutene, Hydrogenated Polysobutene, Ethylene/Porpylene/Styrene Copolymer, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Mineral Oil, Trimethylopropane Tricaprate, Petrolatum, Menthyl Lactate, Flavor, Ammonium Glycyrrhizate, PEG-8, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Ascorbic Acid, Citric Acid, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Tribehenin, Sorbitan Isosterate, Palmltoyl Oligopeptide, Dipalmitoyl Hydroxyproline, Porpylparaben.

Final Verdict

While I wasn’t very impressed with the “lip plumping” results, I was most definitely pleased with everything else; as a tingly, warming, hydrating, yummy smelling and definitely adorable Cookie Dough lip gloss the product works wonderfully, especially considering it costs much less than other “high end” cosmetic glosses promising to leave your lips feeling and looking great.

Would I buy it with my own money again? Most definitely, I’d just try another scent in the line to add to my collection.

If you’re looking for other sexual wellness products be it vibrators, dildos, bath and beauty or other luxury items make sure to check out SexToy.com where shopping is safe, discreet and definitely affordable.

Review: Shunga Divine Oral Pleasure Gloss

Before I start this review I just want to say that I’m rather torn about Shunga’s Divine Oral Pleasure Gloss – a clear lip gloss that “warms” and “cools” to help make the oral sex experience more exciting and enjoyable.

For those of you curious as to why I’m torn; on the one hand it’s easy to use, tastes good, comes discretely packaged and is very affordable. On the other hand, it’s filled with quite a few ingredients that aren’t “all natural” and from personal experience it left my lips and genitals feeling like they were on fire rather than the “warming-cooling” effect that was stated on the box.

That said, I’d like to think I’m rather fair and open minded when it comes to reviews; I give credit where credits due and I always try to look for the positives in a product before I say anything bad about it. With that in mind, I’m just not sure whether to categorize this as an ‘approved’ product or file it under my “unapproved” section. For now I’ll just state that I’m undecided as my experiences with it may just be based on an allergic reaction, personal sensitivities or an intolerance to it, more than the fault of the product.

*if you’ve had a negative experience with the Shunga Divine Oral Pleasure Gloss, please feel free to comment below. I’d love the feedback and to know if it is in fact just me. For the record, while my partner said it felt “strange but exciting”, he also said he “didn’t mind it”.

The Good

Like all of the products Shunga makes the packaging is discreet, colorful, respectful and pretty. Fortunately it’s lacking in pictures of naked women posed in sexual positions, instead having a rather sensual drawing of a Geisha and her lover on the front (quite a refreshing change if I do say so myself). The front of the box has a unique flip front window to view the lip gloss contained inside with the instructions for use written on the underside. The back has 4 languages to describe the product with all of the wording being “suggestive” in nature.

On that note, while it does state that it’s meant for “intimate areas” (also using other words like “oral pleasure” and “orgasmic peak”) it doesn’t specifically state what it’s for in a manner that could be considered crass or embarrassing should someone find it.

The gloss comes in a container similar to ones made by mainstream cosmetic companies; being long and tubular in shape with a soft sponge tipped applicator for applying the gloss (pictured above). Like the box, there is nothing on the container to state what it’s for so you could very easily tote it around in your purse without fear of what someone might think should they find it.

One of the things I did like about the gloss was the fact that it’s clear rather than being colored like other products similar in nature. It might not seem like that big of a deal but this little benefit means that the user can apply it without a mirror, or having to worry about a possible smearing that could leave them looking like Bozo The Clown after giving a blow job. (Now there’s a visual!)

The taste is light, fruity and sweet with a slight hint of spice – think warm apple pie with a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top. It’s not heavy or overpowering and it actually does taste good ( I was expecting it to taste like a lip gloss way past it’s expiration date, but was pleasantly surprised). While it may have quite a few unpronounceable ingredients that aren’t all natural, it definitely doesn’t taste like it.

*The actual flavor is supposed to be “strawberries & champagne” but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t taste that.

Finally it doesn’t get sticky or tacky, instead spreading easily over both the lips and “intimate areas” without any pulling or tugging on the skin. The texture is soft and smooth rather than being grainy or rough and it doesn’t have the goopy or messy feeling many other mainstream cosmetic glosses do.

Kissy, Kissy!

For those of you that are curious as to how it’s meant to be used, here’s a list of possibilities we came up with:

1.) Kissing:  There is nothing more sensual and intimate than kissing someone you’re hot for; it builds the excitement, can help to set the mood (rough kissing possibly leading to “rough” sex, gentle kissing possibly leading to “gentle” lovemaking etc) and best of all it allows you to get close to your partner without actually having to take your clothes off. I don’t know about you but I’m a huge fan of the foreplay that kissing can provide – it’s an act that’s highly under rated! With that in mind, simply spread the lip gloss over your lips, lean in and give your partner a taste, the lip gloss will transfer from your lips to theirs giving both of you an experience you’ve probably never had before.

2.) Oral Sex (for males):  If you want to bring up the excitement level in the b.j. department, Divine Oral Pleasure Gloss definitely provides a new option. Just apply a thick layer to your lips and gently glide them over your lovers “intimate areas” i.e. penis. By doing this you will transfer the gloss to their member, making the area your lips touched tingle with sensitivity.

3.) Oral Sex (for females):  Because of the ingredients the product isn’t one I would suggest for internal vaginal use, instead I would suggest you gently apply a tiny amount to her clitoris before performing any oral action (with her permission of course). Once your partner feels the warming/cooling effect you can begin using the sensations to taunt and tease her, hopefully also bringing her to an intense orgasm.

*Use a little at first and see how she responds, if it doesn’t do much, apply a little more. Just keep in mind that with a product like this (one that causes different sensations) for some people a little is a lot and vice versa.

4.)Body Exploration:  Because the sensation can be transferred anywhere the gloss touches (neck, toes, ear lobes, nipples etc) you can definitely use it for heightening ones level of arousal. Apply some to your lips then kiss the areas you’d like it to be transferred to. Once transferred gently blow on the area and the warming effect will quickly begin to cool.

5.) Lip Plumping Treatment: No matter where you look cosmetic companies are creating all sorts of products designed to “plump” the lips. Whether it’s glosses, lipsticks, top coats or “sealers”, consumers just can’t seem to get enough. Unfortunately, most of the stuff offered by these companies is extremely over priced, require that you use a lot to actually achieve the effect and are usually colored limiting your available options. The Divine Oral Pleasure Gloss offers the same effects as these “lip plumping” products at a fraction of the cost. If you’re curious about them but just don’t have the money to spend, do yourself a favor and try this gloss instead. Your wallet with thank you.

The Bad

When it came to things I didn’t like about the product there were a few, which is part of why I’m torn regarding my feelings…

The first problem I had was the ingredients, most of them are things I can’t pronounce, don’t know what they are or just sound like something that could be harmful. While I know they are perfectly safe for ingestion (they’re also latex safe) I always get nervous about products with ingredients that aren’t “all natural” or have way too many ingredients than seem necessary, especially when there are other “natural” ones available. The sensation may not be as intense with “natural” products but I’d rather that than harsh chemicals.

Ingredients: Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Hydrogenated Ethylene, Proplene, Styrene Copolymer, Styrene Butylene, Ethylene, Menthyl Lactate, Glycerine, Flavor, Sucralose, Polyglyceryl Stearate, Vanillin Butyl Ether.

*I linked where I could, but for the most part the information provided was all text book due to them being chemical in nature.

Second, whether it was applied to my lips or my genitals the product left me feeling like the area was on fire. Maybe I’m allergic, maybe it’s an intolerance (I do have very sensitive skin) or maybe I just used too much. Either way, it’s not a product I personally enjoyed. On that note, my partner said it made oral sex a bit more exciting than usual (for him) and didn’t sting, burn, irritate or bother him like it did me. When applied to his lips he said it felt “strange” and like he “stuck his lips on a battery” (no clue what he meant by that). He said it “tasted yummy and sweet” and “didn’t make his tongue feel weird” like he expected. When I asked him if he’d suggest it to others he said “yes, but I’d warn them it might burn first. Better safe than sorry right?”.  I couldn’t agree more.

Final Verdict

I started this review saying I was torn about the product, and to be honest, I thought by the time I was done writing I’d have my mind made up about it. Unfortunately I don’t. If both my partner and I had the same experience it would be a definite fail, but with the negative only being my experience I just can’t rule it out, especially considering that for some of you it might be a product you really like.

With that in mind, I’m going to leave it in the “approved section” with the hopes that others who have tried it will comment on this review, letting us all know if the experiences they had were positive or negative. Then, depending on the responses I get (and their validity/relation to the issues) I might change the product from being “approved” to “unapproved”.

If you’d like more info on the Divine Oral Pleasure Gloss or to make a purchase head over to the Shunga website where shopping is discreet, easy and the products are affordable.

*For the record, not all of the Shunga products are bad, in fact one of the most fun products (Oriental Body Slide) I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying was made by them.
