Review: We-Vibe Thrill

We-Vible Solo for her ThrillReviewing sex toys isn’t always easy. Sometimes you get your hands on something you think will be a piece of crap and it turns out to the be the holy grail of sex toys (literally and figuratively speaking). Other times you get something you’ve lusted after for years, only to have it let you down at the push of a button. This wasn’t either of those times, if it was, this review would have been easier to write.

Don’t get me wrong, cramming stuff in your bits and sharing it with the world is certainly a fantastic exercise in humility and confidence, but there are side effects that come with it over the years.

In the case of the We-Vibe Thrill, I found myself oddly sitting on the fence; on the one hand it lived up to my expectations… on the other, I wasn’t really expecting much. Which is harsh for me to say, especially since almost every product they’ve made has left me thoroughly impressed (if my dog didn’t tear it to shit, the We-Vibe Touch would still be one of my ‘go-to’ vibes). Fortunately I don’t totally blame the product for my view… citing everything it’s been through, my vagina just isn’t easily “wowed” anymore, I guess with over 100 product reviews under my belt it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Packaging

I’ve never been disappointed with the packaging We-Vibe creates; it’s professional, classy, discreet in appearance, quality, and often luxurious. You’ll rarely find anything that’s potentially embarrassing or tacky, instead the choice wording is mature and thoughtful, with a large portion of their imagery being consistently straightforward, add to that the fact that the actual box(s) is fully reusable and you have yourself some quality stuff right there.

As for the Thrill; placed within the easily removed white cardboard sleeve sits a basic but sturdy red wine colored box, and with the exception of a simple “Thrill by We-Vibe”, there’s absolutely no information pertaining to the product. Instead, the key information is placed on the outer sleeve, including little diagrams and specifications in 7 different languages.  Once opened, the product is nestled within a white foam holder, with the pouch, instruction manual and charger found underneath. It’s clean, simple, well thought out and something more manufacturers should aspire to.

*For those that don’t have many storage options removing the inner foam is a great idea, as the box is large enough to hold everything plus some lube, condoms, and if small enough, a few other sex toys.

The Good

Sadly for me the ‘bad’ outweighed the good, but that isn’t to say it didn’t have some redeeming qualities…

  • The supple and squishy silicone makes it fairly easy to insert, while also allowing it to bend and flex with the body – great for those of you that like to move around/grind about when diddling.
  •  It’s hypoallergenic, hygienic, non-toxic, phthalate and latex free, as well as being non-porous (so it won’t absorb bodily fluid, lube or bacteria), giving it a longer life span than the cheap jelly crap you’ll often find.
  • It’s 100% Waterproof, not ‘splash proof’ like many other vibes, meaning you can fully submerge it in water.
  • It comfortably (and sometimes ergonomically) fits in the hand, sitting rather perfectly so it’s easily turned on and off with the press of a thumb.
  • Although it may not be strong enough for some, others will likely find that there’s quite a bit of power packed in the small body. On that note, the vibrations are fairly deep and rumble rather than being surface level and buzzy.
  • If it takes you a while to get off, not to worry, with a full charge offering up to 2 hours of playtime, depending on the vibration setting of course, you’ll likely quite before it does.
  • Side Note: One of the things I have always loved about We-Vibe it’s the fact that the customer service they offer is above and beyond anything you’d expect. After a few hours of relentlessly searching for the lost tiny and stupid USB adapter, I emailed them to let them know and asked for a replacement, even offering to pay for one. Within an hour or so someone responded and had one out for me the next day. Bravo We-Vibe! Bra-fucking-vo!.

Regarding size you’re looking at a total length of  7.5″ (stretched flat), with 3.5″ of that being fully insertable.  At its thickest (the g-spot bump) it’s 1 1/8″  in diameter and has a circumference of 4″.  If you’re someone that likes girthier things you’ll probably find the Thrill to be a little on the small size, however if you prefer that type of thing, it’ll likely be a nice addition.

Operating Instructions

In theory the C/U shaped Thrill is pretty basic: intended for solo use, the small end is inserted vaginally with the “bump” offering g-spot stimulation, while the other end rests on the clitoris providing external stimulation. If this sounds familiar, it’s probably because there are quite a few products with similar configuration, the Original We-Vibe, Lelo Insignia Tiani, Lelo Noa, and PicoBong Mahana being the first that come to mind.  Fortunately they’re not all entirely identical (can we say Patent lawsuits for EVERYBODY!?), allowing each to provide slight differences in stimulation.

To turn it on simply press the button (located between the two silver charging prongs) and it will begin to vibrate at the lowest setting (3200 rpm), press it again and you’ll jump to the next highest setting (3600 rpm), once more and you’ll be at the second highest setting (4200), and finally, one last press and you’re at the highest steady vibe (4800).  After that each press will take it through the 4 different patterns. Rather than trying to explain them, because I can’t, I’m just going to post images from the We-Vibe website below. Hopefully they’ll make better sense than I ever could. To turn it off simply hold the button for 3 seconds and it’ll quickly power down.

  1. Tease Tease
6.  Wave Wave
  1. Pulse Pulse
8. Cha-cha Cha-Cha

As for charging you’ve basically only got the option of using the USB it comes with. I hate this! Not only does it make charging a pain in the ass, but since I often use my laptop (my PC hates me!) it tends to get in the way. There is no point in time when I want to sit writing or watching a movie while the We-Vibe Thrill is charging beside me. More than that, the magnet, much like the ones used by Fun Factory, doesn’t stay put long enough fully charge without breaking connection.  To make things even more annoying, the cord isn’t very long; no matter where you are, there it is. *sigh*

Finally, the magnetic USB that connects to the actual product is a separate small piece – meaning, it’s not actually attached to the cord (as you can see in the picture to the left: all separate pieces! Ugh!). Why they did this I have no damn clue – it should just be one piece. Period. Maybe if it worked with other things I wouldn’t be so pissy, but since I can’t use it with anything else, not my Blackberry, camera, my husbands cell, nor anything else, it’s totally useless. If they were trying to create something that could potentially be multi-purpose they failed. Stupid magnetic We-Vibe charger is stupid.

End rant.

The Bad

Like I said, the bad far outweighed the good… bare with me, I’ve got a lot of ground to cover.

First and foremost, even though it packs a bit of a punch it’s not quite as strong as it should be. You see, at the highest setting it’s the same vibration speed as both the Tango and Salsa, yet it feels as if it doesn’t quite compete. The reason for this… the thicker silicone works against the product by diluting the power of the vibrations.  That isn’t to say it’s not good, just that it should be better. And it’s not.

I love silicone products for a variety of reasons, but they’re not all created equal. The silicone I often find We-Vibe using is more of glossy texture, causing it to drag on the skin, which can be uncomfortable if you don’t have enough lube. And it attracts lint and pet hair. Unfortunately the handle is also coated in silicone, making it very slippery when lubed hands try to keep control. I honestly would have liked to see something a little softer or matte in texture just so it was easier to hold onto.

Speaking of lube, whether it’s your own or manufactured, once you get it in place don’t expect it to stay there. Instead what you’ll likely find is the We-Vibe Thrill slip sliding around in your vulva while you clamp onto it like a banshee in heat. It’s awkward in a way that’s hard for me to fully describe. Let’s just say that if Duct Tape wasn’t so painful to pull off I might have taped it in place just so I could maintain long enough to get off without having to continually stop and reposition it.

*note: the best position I’ve found to work with it is sitting while watching porn. Sounds weird, I know. Maybe it’s just me and my body but I find that between the angle and closing my legs I’m able to keep in it in place decently while I focus on other things without being too preoccupied by it shifting around. Of course this isn’t an ideal situation, but it works, and in the case of Thrill, that’s what matters.

Although the design is meant to offer both clitoral and g-spot stimulation I often find it coming up a tad short… I can get the g-spot portion in perfectly but then the clitoral portion doesn’t seem to fully cover the clit. Alternatively, when the external portion is properly in place the g-spot part leaves me wanting. All that said, it’s pretty clear that it’s not going to fit the body the way it should , especially for those that have a g-spot that sits a little deeper or those that require something with a pretty intense curve (G-Ki, Njoy Pure Wand or Lelo Ella – even though they don’t all vibrate – would be much better options). Elongating the clitoral portion would have been a great idea, who knows, maybe they’ll make that change with the next round of adaptations.

Because the external portion has some weight to it, letting it go will likely lead it to slowly slip out… sure it’s a great way to streghthen your kegels, but that’s not what it’s for. And it’s kind of fucking annoying.

Last but not least, the handle could be a bit larger. Maybe it’s just my fat little Greek sausage fingers but I cannot get anything in that space comfortably without a fight (no pun intended). It’s usually a little too late before I realize I’ve crammed in my fingers while trying to maintain control, only to have them get stuck or slowly go numb with pins and needles. They could have made it a bit more stretchy, wider, thinner, flexible or open, but they didn’t and I’m not impressed. Not everyone has skinny fingers, that’s something that needs to be taken into consideration.

Care & Cleaning

Even though it’s made of silicone I wouldn’t suggest boiling it since you’ll likely kill the motor. Instead just give it a good wash with liquid soap and water and rinse it well. Like all silicone it’s non-porous and therefore won’t absorb lube, bacteria, or bodily fluids, and therefore won’t require the same heavy duty cleaning lesser products would. Once dry I suggest keeping it in the box or wrapping it in a lint free cloth, it collects lint/pet hair like a mofo.

As for lubes I’d only suggest a good water based lube as a silicone one would likely ruin it with time.

Final Verdict

Even though I have my complaints I can honestly say it’s not completely horrible. And yes, I’ve had better, but I’ve also had much worse.  For the most part it’s easy to use, discreet, body safe, offers dual stimulation in non “rabbit” form, is fully waterproof, rechargeable, travels well, has a variety of vibration settings, is professionally packaged, and may be exactly what you want… if you don’t mind fighting to keep it in place, diluted vibrations, have fat little sausage fingers, or have a lower sitting g-spot, that is.

I can also honestly say it needs some work before it lives up to the standards I have for all We-Vibe products, but being that they are a company that listens to customer feedback and makes changes as they deem necessary, I wouldn’t be surprised if the next round of manufacturing stomps a few of the issues and creates something a little more lust worthy.  Personally I think you’d be much better off waiting for an improved version, but in the meantime, get your hands on the Touch, Tango or Salsa, trust me – they’re some of the best on the market and definitely worth the money!

To get more info, or get your hands on any of the other products We-Vibe makes, head over to one of my all time fave online shops, SheVibe, where you’ll likely find yourself spending countless hours going through the incredible graphic novel style pages, and saving a few dollars in the process.

Review: WeVibe Touch

WeVibe Touch Review

Back in 2008 the forward thinking folks at the Standard Innovations Corporation created a sexual wellness product that changed the game by offering couples a new way to explore and enjoy each other. That product was WeVibe, the first vibrator ergonomically designed to stimulate both partners during intercourse. Not surprisingly it was very well received prompting the company to come out with a second upgraded version, the WeVibe II.  While the design itself stayed the same, the new version came in a variety of colors, a whole new list of features (like an automatic off, memory of the last used vibration mode) and offered users 9 various vibration patterns, along with a slight change to the buttons that made it easier to use and operate.

With both of their products being a success, three new game changing products were created, the thin and tubular lipstick looking WeVibe Tango (one of my absolute favorite sex toys!),  the compact classic mini vibe We-Vibe Salsa (update: they discontinued the Salsa), and the tear shaped hand held WeVibe Touch, the latter being the one I’m happily reviewing for you today.

Packaging

Like all of the products within the line the WeVibe Touch comes packaged in a white flip lidded box that’s discreet, respectful and definitely professional. There is nothing on it that’s rude, inappropriate, tacky or cheap, instead being very high end and pretty in appearance. With the exception of the words “personal massager’ and a point form list of benefits and features on the back, there is nothing on the box to state what it is.

Once the lid has been opened you’ll find the product sitting inside a slim plastic container, the charger and a manual explaining how to use it along with any warnings or safety concerns. Everything about this product is professional, high end and luxurious.

*If you’ve refrained from purchasing a sexual wellness product in the past for fear someone may find it no need to worry, this is definitely one of the least embarrassingly packaged products I’ve found.

The Goods

WeVibe Touch ReviewMade of high quality silicone and unique in design Touch is relatively small measuring 4″ inches in total length, 4 1/2″ inches in circumference and 1 3/4″ inches in diameter. It’s by no means overwhelming or intimidating, instead being rather fun to play and experiment with. As with all of the We-Vibe products, it looks nothing like a traditional intimate accessory, making it both travel friendly and easy to store. Even if you happened to leave it out in the open there’s a likely chance no one would know what it was.

Quality & Design, Why I Love This Toy

Like most high end silicone products it’s hypoallergenic, hygienic, odorless, tasteless, and non toxic while also being latex, lead and phthalate free. It’s also non-porous meaning it won’t absorb lube, bodily fluids or bacteria. If you’re someone that is prone to yeast or other vaginal infections a high quality silicone product is definitely one you’ll be thankful for. As an added bonus, it also makes it much easier to clean and care for.

In regard to design, the elongated tear drop design allows the product to fit comfortably in your hand while also fitting the vulva in way that’s near perfect. Because it’s soft, supple and squishy, this adorable vibe offers a bit of ‘give’, allowing the user to grind or press against it quiet firmly without ever sensing any pain or discomfort. It also has a gently curved tip that’s slightly flexible and provides a larger range of motion, while also offering a depression on the underside that cups the clitoris wonderfully.

Because of its small size and ergonomic design it’s excellent during foreplay and/or stimulating the clitoris, balls, shaft of the penis, perineum (space between the back of the balls and the anus), nipples and/or any other erogenous zone. Having said that it’s not designed for internal vaginal or anal use;  it’s hard to insert, uncomfortable and difficult to remove, adjusting the vibrations is impossible, and there’s no flared base (as needed with anal toys).

WeVibe Touch Review FeaturesHow To Use

Operating the product is very simple; just hold down the button on the bottom and the vibrations quickly begin a deep rumble, hit it one more time and the rumble quickens its pace becoming heavier and more penetrative, pressing once more takes you to the fastest steady rumble in the series. From there pressing the button will take you through 6 of the differing vibration modes. Whether you like a heavy drawn out vibration, pulsations, escalation, roller coaster or a heavy thumping this vibe has it all.  All totaled there are 4 different speeds and 4 vibration modes (at least that’s what it felt like to me.

As if all of the other benefits and features weren’t enough, Touch is also rechargeable via the two small metal prongs located on the bottom. To charge the product simply line up the rounded magnet adapter with the base, plug it in the wall and let it be. Out of the many rechargeable products I’ve tried this has got to be not only the easiest to use, but also the best to date; not once did the connection break, nor did I have problems attaching it.  For a 90 minute charge you’ll get up to 2 hours worth of use.

Benefits and Features: easy to use, light weight, water proof, medical grade silicone, powerful, rechargeable, quiet, comfortable to hold and use, cradles the vulva/clitoris/labia comfortably, single push button activation, discreet, travel friendly.

Cleaning and Care

Because it’s waterproof and made of a high quality silicone that’s non-porous you can easily wash it under a running faucet with an anti-bacterial soap, just make sure to rinse it well. If you’d prefer you could also give it a swipe with an anti bacterial toy wipe or spray it down with your favorite toy cleaner.

In regard to lubes I’d only suggest a good water-based lube as a silicone lube would likely ruin it.

The Bad

When it came to things I didn’t like about the product there were only 2, and to be honest I was just nit picking.

First, it collects lint like pet hair to a new black dress. Seriously, I dropped it by accident and picked up dirt, lint, dust and fluff I didn’t even know was there. With that in mind, I highly suggest holding onto the little plastic case it comes with and keeping it inside when you’re not using it. I also suggest washing it after every use (which you should do anyways).

Second, because it’s a slicker feeling silicone there does tend to be a bit of drag on the skin. It’s not so bad that it hurts, but it’s also not too comfortable. To fix this just use a bit of lube.

Final Verdict

When I got the product I had really high expectations, something that either leaves me very impressed or totally disappointed.  Fortunately I wasn’t wrong in my assumptions and the product turned out to be one of the most powerful, quiet and easy to use intimate accessories of it’s kind.  From the sleek and supple medical grade silicone to the deeply penetrating vibrations, the We-Vibe Touch is simply amazing.

Whether you’re looking for your next big purchase, a gift for someone you think is worthy or simply want to find a product that allows you to explore and experiment with ease, I highly suggest trying the We-Vibe Touch. I’m almost certain you won’t be disappointed!

My Fave Luxury G-Spot Sex Toys

So you’ve made a few small purchases of intimate accessories here and there, found some you loved and some you weren’t really pleased with. Have explored your g-spot (on your own or with something fun), and finally decided it’s time to shell out that little savings you’ve got tucked away for something pretty exceptional. The only problem, you don’t know what’s worthy of your hard earned cash. Good news – I do.

After spending over 6 years working with intimate accessories, with a large portion of that time dedicated to reviews, I’ve had my fair share of great times and unfortunately, experiences I could have lived without. Having said that, I’ve been lucky enough to try some of the best products on the market, all of which have given me the experiences and expertise to know what’s good and what’s better left behind.

With that in mind, if you have a little extra dough, want something specifically designed for g-spot stimulation, made of high quality materials, that’s rechargeable (so much better than batteries), is easy to use, has lots of functions and comes with all the high end bells and whistles a luxury product should, look no further, you’ve found the mother load.

Below are 4 of my all time favorite luxury vibrators specifically designed to make the g-spot happy. Go on, treat yourself. You deserve it!

Luxury G-Spot Sex Toys

Lelo Gigi VibratorLelo Gigi ($99.99 – $149.99)

Way back in the days when I first started working at a brick and mortar store GiGi was something everyone wanted. It was smooth, sleek, rechargeable, made of high end velvety smooth silicone, very quiet, well made and quite different from the traditional (read – boring) vibrators out at the time.

On a whim of curiosity I decided to splurge and take Gigi home to see what the big deal was. At first I was slightly unimpressed. That’s not to say I wasn’t taken aback by the design, ease of use, level of quality or respectful and beautiful packaging. Instead I found it to be a firm product that inserted easily, yet didn’t give me mind boggling orgasm I hoped for. Keep in mind this was back in the day when I was still learning, growing, exploring, challenging myself and my curiosity to rise above any preconceived notions about sex, sexuality and my body. After a few lack luster experiences I put Gigi away in its box where it sat for almost a year. As most of you probably know, a lot can change in a year.

When I came across it by accident, hidden and tucked away in the bottom of a drawer, I quickly pulled it out, recharged it and patiently waited. All the while quietly wondering if a year of bodily explorations would make a difference. Boy did it ever! Not only was finding my g-spot with Gigi quick and comfortable, but it was also far easier to operate and well worth the wait.

Unfortunately it does have a few draw backs; because it’s an older product I find the vibrations aren’t as insanely powerful as many that are made today. Then again that isn’t always a bad thing, especially for those of you that don’t want a crazy powerful product. It’s also not waterproof, for some of you that may be an issue, for others it wont. Regardless I thought I’d add it just to make sure everyone was in the know.

Stats: Length 6 1/2″, insertable length 4 1/2″, circumference 3 1/2″, diameter 1 1/8″, weight 1 lb

Final Verdict: 4.5 stars out of 5

Je Joue G-KiJe Joue G-Ki ($98.99 – $110.00)

I know I’ve claimed many products are my favorites, that some of them I just couldn’t live without. However, if there is one that I’d need when deserted on a stranded island without a companion (who’d put out penetration wise) it would be the G-Ki by Je Joue.

Not only is it easy to use, body safe, waterproof, rechargeable, damn near silent and extremely powerful, but it also does something no other product on the market can – it fully customizes to fit your bodies needs, and quite comfortably I might add!

In total I found 5 different positions that you could shape the G-Ki. That said if the first one doesn’t generate g-spot stimulation, you always have another 4 that you can play with until you find one that does. Keep in mind that while it might take a little time, when you do find a customized curve that hits your g-spot, it will definitely be worth the wait! Trust me!

As for the vibrations; there are 5 different speeds and 5 different vibrational patterns and activating them is a sinch; simply press the metal + (plus) button located on the handle once to activate it and to run through the 5 different speeds. The sixth press of the button shifts to the vibrational patterns. To run through them just keep pressing the + (plus) button until you find one that you like. If you go past a setting that you like just hit the – (minus) button located right below and you go back to the previous speed or setting. To turn it off just hold down the – (minus) button for 2 seconds and off it goes. Fantastic for those of you that need a product that has a “quick off” feature.

I have only one complaint and to be honest it really isn’t anything to worry about; manipulating the joints to adjust the head and shaft might be a little scary at first, especially if you’re someone like me who tends to break things. That said all it takes is a couple minutes to learn the amount of pressure your G-ki needs to move and you’re fine.

Stats: Length 9″, insertable length 5″, circumference 4″, diameter 1 1/2″, weight 1.5 lbs

Final Verdict: 5.75 out of 5 stars (it’s my rating system and I can do what I want!)

Lelo Ina: ($144.99 – $219.99)

There are so many reasons I love the Lelo Ina; it’s easy to use, made from body safe silicone, is hypo allergenic, hygienic, non porous, latex & phthalate free, non toxic and silky to the touch, is built to last, has dual motors (meaning more stimulation points), is powerful, very quiet, waterproof and has a setting I’ve never experienced on another product (the “circular mode”) that vibrates like it’s not only inside you, but a part of you. A part you never knew could be stimulated.

As for operating it there’s only 4 buttons to worry about; (-) minus, (+) plus, upwards arrow and downwards arrow. To turn it on just press the (+) button and it begins to vibrate at a low and steady rumble, press it again and it goes up in power. If you want to change the setting simply press the upwards arrow and it jumps to a pulsation, hitting it again will take you to the next setting and so forth. To turn it off simply hold the (-) button for couple seconds and it quickly powers down.

*In total there are 8 different vibration modes with varying speeds.

While it is rather pricey I have to say that it is most definitely worth it! If I wasn’t doing reviews and had the money to spend, based on the experiences I’ve had with it – I wouldn’t think twice about buying it.

When it came to drawbacks there was really only one and it’s actually something I’ve heard about from other people, yet didn’t really experience myself; because of the shape and thickness of the product some find that it ‘pinches’ or ‘clamps down’ on the area uncomfortably. Since I knew this issue in advance I took some time to stretch the clitoral stimulator back until it wasn’t so tight and rigid.

Stats: Length 7 3/4″, insertable length 3 1/2″, circumference 4 1/2″, diameter 1 3/8″, weight 1.5 lbs

Final Verdict: 4.5 out of 5 stars

WeVibe IIWe-Vibe III: ($77.77 -$199.99)

When I received the original We-Vibe I was quickly impressed with its ease of use, high quality silicone materials, rechargeability and long battery life, innovative design (it’s meant for using during intercourse), comfortability, 3 vibration speeds and the rare ability to target specific areas in an almost perfectly hands free way.

Fortunately the We-Vibe III has the exact same features, but instead of 3 vibration speeds you get 6 different modes that include pulsations, escalations, roller coaster, throbbing and a wonderful steady and strong vibe. It also comes in a variety of colors, rather than the original plain purple design.

Of course none of that really matters unless it does what it’s supposed to, and boy does it ever. Inserting the product is very comfortable due to the thin, rounded and non intrusive design. It’s this thinness that allows the insertion of a penis without creating discomfort, but instead creating a sensation of fullness and amazing pressure on the g-spot. It’s also highly flexible so you can move, shape and shift it to target both the g-spot and labia, or for those of you with a clitoris that sits a little lower, it’s fantastic for targeting both areas without any stress or discomfort. Regardless of how you choose to use it, or the areas you hope to target, I have to say that this product is by far one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning.

Things I didn’t like – it attracts lint like crazy. But that’s pretty much it.

Stats: Length 3″, insertable length 3″, circumference 3″, diameter1″

Final Verdict: 4.25 out of 5 stars

If none of the above products strike your fancy, keep in mind that there are many more worth checking out.
